Choreographer and dancer
Maija Sukute is a dancer, choreographer and dance teacher. She fell in love with the dance world when she was 4 years old and since then dance is her greatest love, passion, hobby and work.
During her lifetime Maija has studied a wide range of dance genres – Latvian folk dance, ballet, hip hop, jazz, contemporary dance, contemporary jazz and its different types, improvisational dance techniques, show dance, character dance and to enrich her dance vocabulary even more she has also studied elements of many other dance genres.
At the moment Maija is studying at the Department of Choreography of Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music and works as an independent dance artist. She takes an important part in Latvian dance scene and participates in art and cultural projects.
Maija believes that in this world there are no obstacles only if you have the courage and an honest and open heart: “I always try to inspire my students not to be afraid, because the fear exists only in our mind but there is no stronger energy than our own.”
