The dome is being changed

02.02.2022.

Now, shortly before Rigas cirks 133th birthday, which is on 29th of December 2021, the dome dismantling stage is done and after necessary preparations the building will be ready for its new dome.

At the moment the dome is completely dismantled, leaving only the historical steel construction made out of train tracks – this historical construction will lie beneath the new construction additions. Next step is adding the new dome, which is made out of CLT (cross laminated timber) panels.

Saying goodbye to traces that Soviet Union left behind, our building will come closer to its original look – how it was built in 1888 by the architect Jānis Frīdrihs Baumanis for the circus building that belonged to Albert Salamonsky. In addition to this change the space will become much warmer and more cozy for our audiences. Historical constructions and other authentic materials will be saved as much as possible. Also the facade will become much brighter and closer to its original.

Here you can take a look at unique pictures of this transformation.
