Rīgas cirks residency programme: OneTwoMany Collective

From 1 to 9 November 2026, Rīgas cirks welcomes Budapest-based contemporary circus company OneTwoMany Collective to its residency programme. During their stay, the artists are developing their forthcoming production, “Don’t Forget to Breathe!”, with a particular focus on its soundscape.

“Don’t Forget to Breathe!” is a non-verbal contemporary circus performance about breathing, awareness and connection. Its title reminds us of our most basic, instinctive bodily function, while inviting us to pause, turn our attention inwards and connect with those around us. The work draws on the artists’ own physical experience: in partner acrobatics, a shared breath initiates movement, builds trust and brings their rhythms into sync. Yet, in moments of tension or concentration, they often find themselves holding their breath.

At the heart of the performance is a seven-metre-wide geodesic dome that serves as a stage, a playground and a shared meeting place. Moving on, around and inside it, the artists bring together partner acrobatics, aerial work and dance. Microphones amplify their inhalations and exhalations, turning breath into rhythm, music and atmosphere. Created for audiences of all ages and designed to be viewed from all sides, the performance eventually invites spectators inside the dome to breathe together and share a moment of stillness and connection.

About OneTwoMany Collective

OneTwoMany Collective was founded in 2022 by Sophie Zoletnik and Lennart Paar, who have been creating work together for almost ten years. Their practice spans street performances, site-specific and digital projects, and participatory circus. Drawing on backgrounds in computer science, cognitive science and architecture, they work with partner acrobatics and counterweight-based aerial systems. Alongside their artistic practice, the collective curates the MUCH Contemporary Circus Festival and the MORE mentoring programme, helping to strengthen the circus community across Central and Eastern Europe.

The residency was awarded to the collective as the Rīgas cirks special prize for their performance in the competition at Cyrkulacje, the Eastern European contemporary circus festival, in 2025.

Work-in-progress presentation
