Looking back at RIGA ICCE 2022 conference

15.06.2022.

On May 10th and 11th, a group of international artists, teachers, scholars, producers and other circus education professionals or enthusiasts came to Riga to share the knowledge on circus and new ways to approach learning in circus education. We are happy to say that Riga International Conference on Circus Education RIGA ICCE 2022 has ended and participants have hopefully left with a newfound curiosity to create and share knowledge. Short video looking back to the conference:

The ideas of how to teach creativity, what does inclusion mean in circus education and what is the connection between circus education and physical literacy were introduced to us by the keynotes and carried throughout the conference within informal discussions and workshops. Many thought-provoking discussions raised as well and gave us new insights into topics, for example, how to be inclusive within a concept and not as an afterthought; what do we understand as “community” and how to create one.

The two days finished with a first public performance from the Riga Circus school, as well as the performance of circus artist Aleksey Smolov (LV). These events were followed by Baltic Nordic Circus Network (BNCN) members gathering, exchanging ideas and planning future steps.

Keynote speaches are available to watch in our Youtube channel
