Ramona Sniega

Ramona Sniega’s story is not only about her own collaboration with the Riga Circus, but also about the legendary circus company Jaunība and its creator Vitolds Birkhāns. Most of what Ramona knows about the circus, she was taught by Vitolds. He was a role model for many young people.

Ramona Sniega has travelled all over the Soviet Union and has also been abroad with her troupe to take part in various festivals. She joined the troupe at the age of fourteen, creating human pyramids with other acrobats many of whom are still performing today.

When Birkhāns was persuaded to head a circus school in Sweden, Ramona took over the management of the troupe Jaunība. Listen to the conversation to find out how she has managed and how the first international youth circus festival was organised in the Riga Circus!
