RE RĪGA!: SITTING DUCK “ČIRINGITO PARADĪZE”
“Chiringuito” is the Spanish word for a small beach bar – a place to meet, enjoy drinks, light snacks and the relaxed atmosphere of summer by the sea.
Two bartenders are preparing for the grand opening of Chiringuito Paradise. Everything is ready, and it seems nothing could possibly go wrong. But the warm-hearted duo is suddenly swept into an apocalyptic whirlwind where catastrophic juggling, physical comedy and, of course, fireworks take over.
Sitting Duck is a contemporary circus company whose work brings together circus and theatre. Their debut production, Chiringuito Paradise, directed by Christine Rossignol-Dallaire, has been performed more than 250 times in 11 countries since its premiere in 2018.
The production marked Sitting Duck’s arrival on the international contemporary circus scene and established the company’s distinctive artistic language – a blend of visual storytelling, clowning and physical theatre that adapts naturally to a wide variety of performance spaces.
