A six-metre structure rises before your eyes – fragile, daring and almost impossible.
Bamboo is a spectacular outdoor circus performance where the act of building becomes the performance itself. Using bamboo poles, natural bindings and their own bodies, accompanied by live music, the artists create an ever-changing landscape for daring acrobatics, agility, humour and risk.
Here, no trick appears ready-made. Everything takes shape before the audience’s eyes – held, lifted, tested and rebuilt. The performance becomes an exploration of strength, balance, risk and creation, where everything can shift and everything can begin again. A playful yet powerful reminder that being together also means building the world together.
NoFit State was founded in 1986 by five friends as a creative response to political change and economic recession in Britain. More than thirty years later, the company still believes in the power of community – that together people can always achieve more.
The company’s members live, work, eat, laugh and even cry together, travelling in trucks, trailers and caravans. This shared way of living is what defines the spirit of NoFit State and gives their work its warmth, vitality and humanity.
