Sometimes the greatest trick is not a somersault, but finding your way back.
Created during the Riga Circus residency programme, Eduard Halias’ new work reflects on what it means to grow older in art and in life, and on the limits imposed by injury, society and our own minds.
What happens when the body no longer responds as it once did, but the desire to perform remains? Combining a philosophical perspective with subtle humour and comic situations, the performance reminds us that circus is not only a physical discipline but also a space where it is possible to laugh at yourself, experiment and keep trying again and again.
Eduard Halias is a sports acrobat and circus artist whose successful career was interrupted by injury. For the past several years, he has been searching for a way back to the stage. It has not been an easy journey: the consequences of his injury, his age and the long break from performing have all become obstacles he must overcome.

Before the performance, from 10.00 onwards, children are invited to explore different circus disciplines at the Riga Circus School activity stations as part of the Children’s Morning programme.
Free tickets will be available from 1 August at Eventcube.
