30.06.2023.

“THE JUGGLING LAUNCH PAD” MASTERCLASS ON MODERN JUGGLING CONCEPTS

When: August 17–18

Where: at Riga Circus School  (25, Zeļļu iela)

The master class will be held in English.

Workshop is boosted by “Grassroot – Baltic circus artists’ network” supported by Nordic-Baltic Mobility Programme for Culture!

About the Masterclass

The masterclass covers contemporary and experimental juggling techniques learned from around the world, with a greater emphasis on Scandinavian styles. Juggling will be viewed from three points of view – object, body and rhythm. The master class will not focus on learning specific tricks, but more on exploring the concept of juggling – it is designed to expand juggling experience and inspiration – to look critically at what juggling is and what it could potentially be.

Masterclass mentors

The Stockholm-based circus artist association “Kapsel” devotes itself to artistic experiments, which most often touch the fields of object manipulation, juggling, music and science. The duo of circus artists Erik Åberg and Jay Gilligan have worked together on many international projects. They have performed in different countries and continents, created a juggling props production brand, created videos dedicated to juggling culture, on which the master class will be based.

Audience

Jugglers of various skill levels. This workshop is for professionals or circus students who want to think about and examine what juggling is and what it can be.
