La Nuit du Cirque 2024: A Talk on the History of Circus
10.11.2024.
In the discussion series “Conversations about Circus” on November 15, as part of the 2024 International Night of Circus (La Nuit du Cirque) activities, we will have a lecture with the expert from the French Institute in Paris, Vanessa Silvy, who will look into history of circus, explore the development of circus arts, discuss first historical evidence of juggling, and the origins of traditional circus.
During the lecture, we will learn what exactly constitutes as circus, how it has developed over time, how it has influenced other disciplines, and whether we can talk about a circus repertoire.
