ALEXIS AKROVATAKIS – THE FIRST ARTIST-IN-RESIDENCE AT THE RĪGAS CIRKS

25.08.2018.

Riga Circus invites you to the work-in-progress performance of “Jostka”, the solo project by Alexis Akrovatakis.

ABOUT THE PERFORMANCE

The artist who’s the first one of our Residency Program has been developing material in the historic elephant house and horse stables of Riga Circus, creating his interpretation of animal captivity, redefining freedom, as the path cage-arena can be the only place known by the animals in the circus.
This translates to “Jostka”, that explores the self-captivity for years body and soul as detecting captivity and analysing it, leads to the final steps of self-acceptance, forgiveness as transformation completes.
It’s been unfolding for years refusing to take its final form, mainly becoming some sort of self-platform to facilitate instant change, impulses and space awareness as it gets to strip down exposed, communicated, interacted and finally unleashed to be spectated.
