Rīgas cirks Residency Programme: Ebba Filippa Wannfors, Matéo Perez and Animo Schönherr
From 27 July to 9 August 2026, Rīgas cirks Residency Programme will welcome artists from Sweden – Ebba Filippa Wannfors, Matéo Perez and Animo Schönherr. During their stay, the trio will continue developing a new contemporary circus project exploring themes of travel, displacement and belonging.
The work asks simple yet profound questions: What does it mean to leave a place or a person behind? How does moving change our relationships? How long does a place remain home after we have left it? Through circus, dance and physical storytelling, the artists seek to create an accessible stage language in which both children and adults can recognise themselves, laugh together and reflect on experiences of connection, difference and change.
Ebba Filippa Wannfors trained in Norway and at FLIC Circus School in Turin, specialising in static trapeze and partner acrobatics.
Matéo Perez studied circus in France and Italy, focusing on partner acrobatics, floor acrobatics and static trapeze. Together, they recently created Kommer du ihåg?, a family-friendly performance combining theatre, acrobatics and humour.
Animo Schönherr is a non-binary interdisciplinary artist working across contemporary circus, dance and theatre. After training at Die ETAGE in Berlin and Performact in Portugal, they created the solo Paperskin and the duet Früshtück for Nobody together with Marie Després. Today, Animo works as a freelance artist while continuing to deepen their artistic practice through collaborative creation, workshops and movement research.
The three artists first met in Stockholm in February 2026 during a handstand course at the Stockholm University of the Arts (SKH).
Rīgas cirks has received funding for residential visits from the Nordic-Baltic Mobility Programme for Culture.
