Premiere! Lelde Feldmane’s circus and dance performance “Fragile Power”
On March 15, at the Dance House KURTUVE in Valmiera, in collaboration with Riga Circus and the Latvian Academy of Culture, the premiere of choreographer and circus artist Lelde Feldmane’s performance “Fragile Power” will take place.
In the performance “Fragile Power,” artist Lelde Feldmane transforms personal experience into a language of expression through movement, acrobatics, and words—interwoven with strength and sensitivity, endurance and vulnerability. At the center of the performance is a vertical pole, which becomes the axis of the world – axis mundi—serving both as support and challenge, inviting the artist to explore the balance between strength and fragility.
In close interaction with a group of dancers, through mutual trust and shared movement, Lelde Feldmane creates the illusion of levitation—a state in which the body resists gravity and opens itself to relationships. This physical practice becomes a symbolic space where care, responsibility, and quiet yet powerful compassion are embodied.
“Fragile Power” is a healing work about the conscious power of compassion—about care, taking responsibility, and dedicating oneself to another. This quiet, often invisible self-giving embodies one of the bravest and strongest forms of love. It is a moment when care becomes visible—a gesture to the power of conscious compassion, to care, responsibility, and devotion to another.
