THE FROZEN CANDIES. A Circus Christmas for the Whole Family

As Christmas approaches and the New Year draws near, Riga Circus, together with the Riga Circus School and the theatre troupe KVADRIFRONS, invites audiences to a warm and visually rich winter performance for the whole family — “Cold Candies”, shown on selected dates at Riga Circus.

On the eve of Christmas, a postman unexpectedly arrives at Riga Circus with cold, delicious candies — so tempting that every circus resident tastes them. The candies sparkle like frozen stars, crunch like icy winter icicles, and carry the scent of a distant childhood. Yet soon after, strange things begin to happen at the circus. It becomes clear that someone must uncover the secret of the cold candies and set things right again.

“Our performance is a slightly naive reminder of one very simple thing: it is important to believe that good can prevail. Not because everyone suddenly becomes perfect, but because someone finds the courage to correct a mistake, ask for forgiveness, and bring others closer together again. This story begins with unpleasant, cold candies and ends with togetherness. That is the power of Christmas joy. And one more thing — I am happy about this annual meeting: artists from Riga Circus and KVADRIFRONS come together in one round arena to create a magical connection, where theatre and circus complement and nourish each other, creating a true celebration,” says Klāvs Mellis, a representative of the show’s creative team.
