NuoraNORD Incubator project has started in May

NuoraNORD Incubator has survived the shock of corona and the co-development process is getting started together with the participants in May
The participants had just been selected and the key arrangements for incubator residency in Tallinn for April had been made, when the corona situation struck us by surprise. Cancelling the trip to Tallinn caused a chain reaction and a lot of our plans had to be changed. The schedule, how would we operate and who would facilitate the process for participants had to be figured out all over again. However, the core idea of supporting up-and-coming circus initiatives remained the same. Now that the new plan has come together and gotten approved by the funder Nordic Culture Point, we will soon get going with developing the participants’ projects together.
The Incubator project is a collaboration between CircusInfo Finland (coordinator), Dynamo Workspace for Circus (Denmark), Cirkus Cirkör (Sweden), Arts Printing House / Menu spaustuve (Lithuania), Eesti Tsirkusekeskus (Estonia) and Rīgas Cirks (Latvia). Each partner has selected an initiative from their region to take part in the project. The chosen participants are Lumo Company (FIN), Cameliorchestra (DNK), Below Zero (SWE), Šiuolaikinio cirko asociacija (Contemporary Circus Association, LIT), EPICIRQ showcase (EST) and a new platform for artistic creations from Latvia.
Due to the corona situation, NuoraNORD Incubator has become an exploration on the possibilities of remote collaboration as the project is to be carried out entirely online. The original plan was to have an intensive Incubator residency for the participants in Tallinn in the spring. Now, instead of meeting live, there will be three facilitated online workshops to achieve our goals for co-development. Face-to-face social interaction between people cannot be replaced with online communication, but could some aspects of collaboration flourish with it?
The objective of NuoraNORD Incubator project is to empower circus projects and their makers in a co-development and peer-support process with both material and immaterial resources. The long-term goal for the project is to develop sustainability and diversity in the field of circus in the Baltic-Nordic region.
