The training is part of a project to make Riga Circus cultural services more available and accessible in Riga and the regions.<\/strong><\/h4>\n<h3>August: Welcoming and Supporting Visitors<\/h3>\n<p>In August, the Riga Circus front-of-house team, who welcome our audiences, took part in the training. The aim was to help the team feel confident and well-informed when communicating with visitors who have various functional impairments.<\/p>\n<p>The trainers spoke about mobility, visual and hearing impairments, as well as intellectual and psychosocial disabilities. We discussed everyday situations at the circus. In practical exercises, we tried guiding a person who is blind and communicating with a Deaf visitor.<\/p>\n<h3>October: Easy Language and Digital Accessibility<\/h3>\n<p>In October, the team learned the basics of Easy Language. Easy Language is clear and simple text. It helps people take in information, for example people with intellectual disabilities, older people and those who are still learning Latvian.<\/p>\n<p>We also talked about digital accessibility. This means that websites and digital content can be used by everyone, including people who use assistive technology. We learned who needs this and why.
