In Riga Circus Residency program an interdisciplinary theatre project “ASK THE BREAD” by CuntsCollective will be developed in June 2019.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The name of the project is inspired by poem \u201cBread\u201d of the Moldavian poet Liviu Damianu: \u201c[…]the bread is\u00a0not just a sign of joy, the bread has been a painful dream […]\u201d.<\/p>\n

Indeed, as a symbol of hard labor in the\u00a0countryside, the bread is a secular image conveyed by many institutions, religions or philosophies. For this\u00a0project, bread has been taken as a symbol of the double side of nature \u201ccovered by hard crust with soft\u00a0pulp in the middle\u201d. As a matter of fact, the countryside is often idealized in a romantic conception: a rural\u00a0idyll, green, quiet and peaceful. People tend to represent the rural life as something beautiful and healthy, a\u00a0dream, a utopian place where people escape crowded cities during holidays, a hoped Eldorado. But it also\u00a0reveals a violent side, made of loneliness, isolation, and fear. To perceive the country of the workers and\u00a0the peasant, we need to hear their \u201cbread stories\u201d and this is exactly what ASK THE BREAD\u2019S team desires\u00a0to do.<\/p>\n
