An intriguing performance-installation that each time is presented in a very different way depending on the place, be it the contemporary arts museum in Leuven, a huge culture complex in Tokyo, or a historical circus building in Riga.<\/p>\n

ABOUT THE INSTALLATION-PERFORMANCE \u201cCARRY ON\u201d<\/h3>\n

How does a space produce or affect movement? And how does movement, in turn, affect space? \u201ccarry on\u201d is a site-specific production, entirely refigured for every new location where it takes place. In collaboration with performers,\u00a0actors and sound designers, Heine Avdal and Yukiko Shinozaki stage a series of imaginative interventions in rooms,\u00a0corridors and obscure hidden corners. The audience is invited to zoom in on strange details and on the visible\u00a0traces of the site\u2019s past and present use. Slowly and subtly the building is transformed into a fascinating alternative\u00a0version of itself.<\/p>\n

\u201ccarry on\u201d is a special invitation to carry out a spatial investigation. Avdal and Shinozaki take small groups of visitors\u00a0on a guided tour through an architectural environment where they find remainders of former actions, simultaneously\u00a0leaving traces of their own. While this can take place in very different kinds of spaces, the project\u2019s elementary\u00a0characteristic is that the tour is carried on by bodily actions relating to unexpected discoveries. Gradually immerging\u00a0deeper into the back rooms, vestibules, and interstices of the respective building, the excursion enters areas which\u00a0usually remain inaccessible, hidden or unnoticed.<\/p>\n
