Agnese Vanaga

Choreographer, director and educator

Agnese has a Bachelor’s Degree in Contemporary Dance (Latvian Academy of Culture, 2003) and Master’s Degree in Contemporary Dance (Theatre Academy of Helsinki, 2006).

From 2006 to 2016, Agnese lived in Argentina where she worked as a director and choreographer in many international projects. After returning to Latvia, Agnese has produced plays in several theatres, now she conducts tango and improvisation workshops at the Latvian Academy of Culture for the students of dance and direction as well as teaches contemporary dance at Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music.

Agnese has developed a research project Tango Aéreo, aimed at combining elements of aerial dance with tango – it is very beautiful and she also uses this system to train new dancers.

In the Riga Circus School, Agnese will teach the following disciplines: GPP, flexibility, contact improvisation, contemporary dance, cooperation, vertical dance.

In her work, Agnese pays great attention to the students’ relationship with their body and awareness of their body, she treats her pedagogical work as a dialogue. And you can always start a dialogue with Agnese about tango.
