Sessions

Training for children

Sessions with  children aged between 7 and 16 will start in September 2018.

Currently application rounds are open for the series of sessions until end of the year. Find the application form HERE.

During the training sessions, children will improve their physical fitness and get an insight into different circus disciplines. Each training session will last two hours and it will be conducted by two instructors: a group master who will constantly work on children’s physical development, and another instructor who will teach children a new circus discipline.

Each session will include time for a conversation with the teacher, warming up and general physical preparedness (GPP) exercises, different games aimed at mastering the elements of each discipline, as well as cooling down and stretching exercises. Cooperation among children of different ages during the sessions will facilitate mastering of various disciplines (e.g. partner acrobatics, balancing), and diminish the sense of competition among peers.

Sessions are conducted by Katrīna Albuže, a choreographer, dancer and dance teacher, Dmitrijs Pudovs, a fire juggler and martial arts instructor, and  Aleksejs Smolovs, a health sports specialist and Cyr Wheel artist, somatics and dance improvisation teacher Madara Garklāva, choreographer and director Agnese Vanaga. Occasionally, sessions will be conducted by guest teachers from the international partner organisations of the SLLC Rīgas cirks.

Participation fee:

  • EUR 35 per calendar month.
  • EUR 140 – a fixed fee for 4 months to be paid as a single payment.

Workshops for families

Admissions will be announced in August 2018. Please follow information on the Facebook page of Riga Circus School.

Parents together with their children from the age of 3 are invited to the workshops for families. Sessions will last 90 minutes and they will be conducted by one instructor. During the sessions, parents could move around with their children and learn various circus disciplines. This will be learning through play, involving both children and parents. The atmosphere prevailing at the sessions will foster trust and cooperation. The participants of the sessions will learn certain disciplines, e.g. human pyramids, partner acrobatics, juggling and acrobalance.

Sessions are conducted by Katrīna Albuže, a choreographer, dancer and dance teacher, Dmitrijs Pudovs, a fire juggler and martial arts instructor, and Aleksejs Smolovs, a health sports specialist and Cyr Wheel artist. Occasionally, sessions will be conducted by guest teachers from the international partner organisations of the SLLC Rīgas cirks.

Participation fee:

EUR 9 per participant or EUR 7 per participant if more than 2 people attend the session or if any of the participants is a Circus School student with his/her family.
